Cardinal Mooney football starts 2026 season with two consecutive victories

Cardinal Mooney high school football began the 2026 season with a 2-0 record following a 35-0 win over Auburn Hills Oakland Christian on September 4 at East China Stadium. The result marked the first shutout victory for the team in nearly four years. These early wins contrast sharply with the team's 2025 season, during which they finished with an 0-9 record and scored only 19 points in total. Players and coach Dan Kilian attributed the recent turnaround to an intensive offseason in the weight room and a team-first approach. The Cardinals have outscored opponents 63-6 through two games. The team has one additional non-conference game scheduled before they begin Catholic High School League play, followed by a matchup against rival Allen Park Cabrini in week four.
