Cardinals consider options for struggling Nolan Gorman

Summary

The St. Louis Cardinals are evaluating their options regarding Nolan Gorman following a troubling decline in his performance over the past three seasons. Gorman's power numbers have plummeted from 27 home runs in 2023 to just 14 in 2025, with his batting average dropping to.199 in 2026. With Gorman out of minor league options, the Cardinals may need to consider trading him or designating him for assignment. Potential trade proposals could involve swapping struggling players or including him in a larger deal. The team currently lacks a clear replacement at third base, prompting suggestions for a platoon approach with other players until a more suitable option emerges.
