The St. Louis Cardinals announced the promotion of right-hander Cade Winquest from Triple-A Memphis on August 27, 2026. Winquest replaces Peter Strzelecki, who was placed on the 15-day injured list due to elbow inflammation. Winquest, chosen by the Yankees in the Rule 5 Draft, had a 4.54 ERA with 57 strikeouts in 33 appearances at Triple-A this season. Despite being part of the Yankees' Opening Day roster, he did not make an appearance in New York before being designated for assignment in April.
