(Photo by Richard Pelham/Getty Images for Netflix) | Getty Images for Netflix Carl Froch has heard enough of the rantings and ravings of John Fury, who has once again challenged Froch to fight, something that — as Froch notes — has been going on for some time. The 61-year-old Fury has escalated the conversation recently, attached to his son Tommy’s Misfits Boxing fight with Eddie Hall this past weekend. John raised the question of fighting Froch at the post-fight press conference with promoter Kalle Sauerland, and video was circulated of Fury in one of his trademark rages, punching walls and shout about Froch in the backstage area. Froch has responded, saying he’s ready to fight, if Fury doesn’t “vanish” as he did when previously offered the bout. “Listen up, and listen closely, because I want you to get this into your thick f—ing skull,” Froch said in a video posted online. “This has been going on for too long. I saw you punching the wall the other day. Walls don’t hit back. You’re a f—ing bully; starting on Carl Frampton, starting on Steve Bunce, you headbutted the smallest man in the room at the Usyk press conference. “I’m ready to fight. You called it on, I’m answering. I’m ready for you. Sign the f—ing contract or shut the f— up.” The absolute most likely thing is none of this goes anywhere. John Fury has barked loudly around the fights of his sons for many years now, calling out various people to fight, and never actually has any sort of fight with these people, sanctioned or exhibition or otherwise. It seems mainly for attention — and love him, hate him, whatever, he is an interesting guy who’s lived a colorful life and he has a great voice, so with cameras on him, it’s easy for him to get attention. A bit more of Froch’s response to Fury’s recent comments and antics: On the earlier negotiations for Froch vs John Fury “He got offered, what was it, ₤1.5 million. He said he’s not arsed about the money, he wants to fight for charity, and then he priced himself out asking for ₤2.5 million. I’d already agreed it; I said to Kalle Sauerland, the promoter, and Mams Taylor of Misfits (Boxing), ‘I’ll fight him. This guy’s a big bully. If I have to put him in his place, and I have to be the one to shut his mouth, I’ll do it!’ “Almost everything was pretty much agreed on my side. It went back to John Fury and he’d vanished. He disappeared. He calls everybody else a s—house, and he vanished.” On John Fury’s recent comments When [John Fury] boxed pro, he spent more time with his ass on the canvas than on his feet. He was absolutely f—ing useless. Carl Froch “He was saying I could shove (my world title belts) where the sun don’t shine. World titles — I mean, come on, when he boxed pro, he spent more time with his ass on the canvas than on his feet. He was absolutely f—ing useless. He’s giving me stick about world titles. “Then he got personal as well, saying I’m an embarrassment to Nottingham, and he was on about when I go home to my kids, I can’t look them in the eye. Some sort of nonsense talk. It’s pathetic and ridiculous and absolutely stupid. “Then at the post-fight press conference for that s—show [Tommy Fury vs Eddie Hall], he stuck it on Kalle Sauerland, he said, ‘Kalle, can you make this fight? Can you make this fight with me and Carl Froch?’ “But we’ve been here before, haven’t we? We’ve been here four or five months ago. I’m ready, I’m ready to fight. I ain’t got a problem with putting a bully in his place. But it got serious because … [Sauerland] said [he] can do the fight, no problem, and [John] hasn’t priced himself out — not yet, anyway. It looks like he’s being serious. So there’s a chance that this fight might actually get made, if John doesn’t vanish like he did last time.”
