Carolina Panthers identified as potential destination for coach Mike Tomlin

The Carolina Panthers were recently listed as a primary landing spot for former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin. While current head coach Dave Canales remains in his position following a division title win, analysts suggest the organization could evaluate a change if the team regresses during the 2026 season. Tomlin left the Steelers in January after 19 seasons, holding a career record of 201-126-2 including postseason play. The potential link between the two parties stems from the previous business association between Tomlin and Panthers owner David Tepper, who held a minority ownership stake in the Pittsburgh franchise from 2009 until 2018. Although there is currently no indication that Canales faces immediate job insecurity, observers note the possibility of a coaching shift remains should the team fail to maintain its recent trajectory.
