Carter Bear helps Red Wings overcome deficit to defeat Dallas in tournament

The Detroit Red Wings opened the Prospect Tournament on Saturday at the BELFOR Training Center with a 4-3 shootout victory against the Dallas Stars. Carter Bear, selected 13th overall in the 2025 NHL Draft, recorded 10 shots on goal and assisted on a second-period power-play goal by Jesse Kiiskinen. Detroit overcame a two-goal deficit in the third period with late goals from Noah Dower Nilsson and Théo Rochette. Trey Augustine stopped eight shots in the shootout before Kienan Draper secured the win on the eighth attempt for the Red Wings. The game marked a significant return to form for Bear, who spent much of the previous year recovering from an Achilles injury. The Red Wings are scheduled to continue tournament play against Pittsburgh on Sunday.
