Carter Bear shines for Grand Rapids as Red Wings await roster change

Carter Bear scored one goal and two assists for the Grand Rapids Griffins as they defeated the Chicago Wolves 5-1 on November 1, 2026. Bear, the 13th overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, has nine points in nine AHL games. Despite his strong performance, the Detroit Red Wings recalled John Leonard from Grand Rapids rather than Bear, indicating no immediate spot for the 19-year-old on the NHL roster. With the Griffins performing well at 8-1-1-1, Bear's continued development in the AHL remains a priority until the Red Wings face a roster opening due to injury or performance issues.
