Casey Young named coach of the year at Community Shield event

Casey Young, a 19-year-old coach from Crewkerne, Somerset, was honored with the coach of the year award at the FA Grassroots Football Awards during the Community Shield match between Arsenal and Manchester City on Sunday, August 17. Young, who trains a cerebral palsy team at Bristol City Cerebral Palsy FC, was one of 12 recipients selected from over 12,000 nominations. He expressed disbelief and gratitude upon receiving the award, emphasizing the community aspect of his work. Young travels an hour each way for coaching sessions and has maintained perfect attendance despite major surgeries. His father, Bob Young, previously won the same award three years ago.
