The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed forward Mario Hezonja on a one-year deal worth $2.8 million. Hezonja, who last played in the NBA during the 2019-20 season, has been active in Europe, performing well with Real Madrid. Last season, he averaged 17.5 points and 4.9 rebounds in Liga ACB and 13.2 points and 3.3 rebounds in EuroLeague play. The Cavaliers pivoted to this signing after their unsuccessful pursuit of LeBron James, who was also sought by the Golden State Warriors. Hezonja's previous NBA tenure included being selected 5th overall in the 2015 draft by the Orlando Magic.
