CBS Sports analyst projects Rams to lead NFL in scoring and defense

Summary

CBS Sports analyst Douglas Clawson projects the Los Angeles Rams to finish the season with both the top-ranked scoring offense and the top-ranked defense. This statistical accomplishment has not been achieved in the NFL since the 1996 Green Bay Packers. The Rams aggressively overhauled their roster during the offseason, signing Myles Garrett, Trent McDuffie, and Jaylen Watson to bolster a defense that struggled late last year. Additionally, the return of Aaron Donald is expected to solidify the defensive unit under coordinator Chris Shula. On offense, the team aims to expand its passing concepts and improve red-zone performance. The club seeks to return to championship form after struggling with complementary play in recent seasons following its Super Bowl LVI victory.
