CBS Sports released a forecast suggesting the Houston Texans could bench quarterback C.J. Stroud during the 2026 season. The outlet cited offensive underachievement and recent turnover issues as potential catalysts for the team to turn to backup Davis Mills. While the prediction highlights dissatisfaction with the offense's performance during previous postseason games, it remains a projection rather than an official team decision. The Texans enter the new season with a schedule featuring several playoff-caliber opponents, including the Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals, and Indianapolis Colts. The team added running back David Montgomery to the roster this year to address past inconsistencies in the run game, which officials hope will alleviate pressure on the quarterback position. The Texans open their regular season at home against the Buffalo Bills on September 13.
