The 19-year-old Netherlands U19 captain missed his club's recent match against RKC Waalwijk on August 29, signaling progress in the negotiations. Standing 1.87 metres tall, Van den Berg previously trained in the academies of Ajax and PSV. He recorded seven goals in 28 reserve matches last season and earned limited minutes with the first team under Peter Bosz.
