Celtics trade Jaylen Brown to Sixers for Paul George, draft picks

On July 1, the Boston Celtics agreed to trade Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Paul George, two first-round picks, and two second-round picks. This trade dissolves Brown's partnership with Jayson Tatum, who won the title in 2024 alongside him. Brown's significant contract, making him the richest player in NBA history, is set at $57 million for next season. George, who has had injury concerns and a recent drug policy violation, will now join Tatum in Boston after spending two seasons with the Sixers, where he played 78 games. The Celtics previously attempted to trade Brown for Giannis Antetokounmpo, who was acquired by Miami.
