Central Michigan opens 2026 season against New Mexico in Albuquerque

Central Michigan opens its 2026 football season tonight against New Mexico at University Stadium in Albuquerque. The kickoff for the first-ever meeting between the two programs is scheduled for 10 p.m. Eastern Time. Both teams enter the game with a 0-0 record and are using a rotation at the quarterback position. Central Michigan head coach Matt Drinkall enters his second season with the program, while New Mexico head coach Jason Eck prepares for his second year. The Chippewas are returning leading receiver Langston Lewis, who earned third-team All-MAC honors in 2025. Following tonight's contest, Central Michigan returns home to play Colgate on September 12.
