Chargers' Mike McDaniel outlines running back strategy for 2026 season

Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel has proposed a committee approach for the running back position in the 2026 NFL season. He plans to utilize Omarion Hampton, Kimani Vidal, and Keaton Mitchell each game, reducing the expected workload for Hampton, who was drafted 22nd overall in 2025. Hampton recorded 545 rushing yards and four touchdowns in his rookie season, while Vidal had 643 rushing yards over 13 games. The addition of Mitchell, who contributed 341 rushing yards for the Baltimore Ravens last season, aims to enhance the Chargers' offensive strategy. McDaniel believes all three players can contribute effectively, suggesting a dynamic running game ahead for the Chargers.
