Chargers sign outside linebacker Caleb Murphy to the team practice squad

The Los Angeles Chargers signed outside linebacker Caleb Murphy to the practice squad on Wednesday. Murphy returns to the organization after previously spending time with the team in 2024, where he played in nine games and recorded 14 tackles and half a sack. He most recently competed during training camp with the New York Giants before his release during final roster cuts. The 254-pound linebacker also spent time with the Tennessee Titans and the New England Patriots earlier in his career. The move provides the Chargers with additional defensive depth and a player with experience in the team's system. Murphy’s previous work with the coaching staff and his ability to contribute on special teams factored into the signing.
