Chargers sign wide receiver Theo Wease Jr. to practice squad

The Los Angeles Chargers added wide receiver Theo Wease Jr. to the team's practice squad on September 2, 2026. This move reunites the receiver with Mike McDaniel, who currently serves as the Chargers' offensive coordinator and previously coached Wease on the Dolphins in 2025. Wease, who went undrafted out of Missouri, appeared in one game for Miami during the 2026 season and recorded a 63-yard touchdown catch against the Buccaneers. The Dolphins released the 25-year-old receiver before the roster cut deadline this past Saturday. The addition brings the number of players reported on the Chargers' practice squad to 20, exceeding the league-mandated limit of 16. To reach the required roster size, the organization must release four players from its current practice squad group.
