Charlie McAvoy of the Boston Bruins, coming off a personal-best offensive season in 2025-26, has been ranked 11th among NHL defensemen by NHL Network. With career highs in goals (11), assists (50), and points (61) across 69 games, McAvoy’s contributions helped the Bruins return to the playoffs. Despite his achievements, he finished just behind Edmonton's Bouchard, Detroit's Seider, and Ottawa's Sanderson for the top ten spots. McAvoy's ranking raises questions given his remarkable performance, including a strong playoff presence and essential Olympic participation. NHL Network aims to account for more than just scoring in their assessments.
- •McAvoy scored 11 goals and 50 assists for 61 points in 2025-26.
- •He averaged 24:23 ice time per game during the season.
- •McAvoy recorded 23 power-play points and blocked 129 shots.
- •He missed 11 games due to a fractured jaw but made a strong return.
- •NHL Network published the rankings on August 9, 2026.
