Charlie Woods saves par after ball lands on TPC Sawgrass footpath

Charlie Woods recorded a par on the 17th hole during the first round of the American Junior Golf Association Junior Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass. After pulling his tee shot toward the water on the Island Green, Woods' ball remained dry but landed on a footpath behind the hole. He recovered by chipping within four feet of the pin and sinking the subsequent putt. Woods, competing in a field that includes other children of past Players winners, also birdied the 18th hole to move to 1-under par. He is scheduled to continue his tournament play with a second-round tee time on the morning of September 5.
