There were several major developments for WWE’s blue brand at SummerSlam, and WWE has now announced multiple segments for Friday night’s (Aug. 7) fallout episode of SmackDown. First up is WWE Champion CM Punk’s response to Kevin Owens’ surprise return and new status as the number one contender for his belt. If Owens joins Punk in the ring for this segment, we may just get WWE’s best promo battle of 2026. After that is Interim WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green revealing her plans now that she is the top star in the women’s division on SmackDown. Given today’s news about Rhea Ripley’s knee surgery, is there a chance that WWE will vacate Rhea’s title and remove Green’s interim status? Finally, Charlotte Flair is scheduled to go one-on-one against Jade Cargill. This is the long-anticipated singles match that I assumed would be saved for WrestleMania, SummerSlam, or some other PLE. It probably was planned for this year’s SummerSlam before Rhea’s injury changed everything, so we’re instead getting it on SmackDown. According to CageMatch, Jade and Charlotte did technically have their first singles match on a house show a couple days prior to SummerSlam, but WWE often pretends like that sort of stuff doesn’t count.
