Charlton Athletic captain Greg Docherty departs club by mutual consent

Charlton Athletic captain Greg Docherty has left the Championship club by mutual consent. The 29-year-old midfielder joined the side in July 2024 and served as skipper during the team's promotion from League One. Over his tenure, he recorded 90 appearances and scored five goals for the Addicks. Manager Nathan Jones confirmed the departure, noting that the decision was made as the club aims to evolve and Docherty's playing time would likely decrease. Docherty made his final appearance for the club during a recent Carabao during a Carabao Cup match against Tottenham Hotspur last week. As his departure occurs outside of the standard transfer window, the player is now free to pursue opportunities with other clubs.
