Chase Elliott drops in NASCAR point standings ahead of Sonoma race

Chase Elliott has fallen to sixth in the NASCAR Cup Series point standings before the Sonoma Raceway event. Elliott, who has only one top-10 finish in his last six races, is now behind Kyle Larson and Ty Gibbs. The driver of the No. 9 car had strong performances earlier in the season but has struggled recently, including a wreck at Michigan International Speedway. With only 34 points separating him from Chris Buescher in seventh place, his position in the standings could shift further downward if his performance does not improve at Sonoma.
