Chase McCarty takes on unique role for Houston Cougars basketball team

Chase McCarty, a captain for the Houston Cougars basketball team, embraces his role as the team's 'locker room lawyer' and a music disruptor. At a recent media day, teammates expressed their frustration with his non-rap music choices, which he humorously defends as necessary for balance. McCarty, now in his third year, has played a pivotal role in the team's success, including reaching the Sweet 16 last season and the national title game in 2025. His passion for leading and mentoring teammates continues to shape team dynamics as they prepare for the upcoming season.
