Chelsea Green received a huge pop at SummerSlam Sunday when she successfully climbed a ladder to win the interim WWE women’s championship. During the SummerSlam post-show, Green dunked on WWE Producer Michael Hayes by dedicating her championship win to him. That was her response to Hayes’ comments on WWE Unreal where he said Chelsea shouldn’t be a top star like Charlotte Flair or Tiffany Stratton. In a new interview with CBS Sports, Green actually defended Hayes as someone who doesn’t sugarcoat the truth. “That clip on ‘Unreal’ is part of why I’m sitting here with this title on my shoulder right now. But I want to make sure everyone knows Michael Hayes has supported me since the minute I got to WWE. He’s the only person that is so blatantly honest, so blunt that he always, always provides the truth, whether I want to hear it or not.” She said Hayes laughed at her title dedication, and reiterated his claim that Netflix’s editing is mostly to blame for all the negativity he received regarding what he said on WWE Unreal. “He can dish it, but he can also take it. I sent him a text this morning, ‘Have you seen that I dedicated the title to you?’ He loved it. He was laughing. He is such a good sport. And I wish that what he said wasn’t cropped and edited to make it seem like that’s all he said because I know in my heart that he probably had a million kind things to say about me. At the end of the day, what he said was the truth. It was the truth in that moment. It was his truth. It was Creative’s truth. It might have been Triple H’s truth, I don’t know. I’m totally glad he said it. No regrets.” Man, I was hoping she would continue dumping on the guy, but I guess that fun arc is over with. Earlier this year, WWE Producer Michael Hayes was under fire for this comment he made about Chelsea Green on season two of WWE Unreal. “Chelsea is so entertaining. But she is not built for, nor should she be in the Charlotte Flair role or Tiffany Stratton. Because Chelsea’s job is to help make those people.” Hayes did apologize while also criticizing Netflix’s editing of his remarks, but Green was understandably pissed off and upset about the way he put a ceiling on her position in WWE. Now that she’s the Interim WWE Women’s Champion after winning a 5-way ladder match at SummerSlam that included top stars like Flair and Stratton, it was Chelsea’s turn to dunk on Hayes during a post-show interview. She did so by dedicating her world title reign to him.
