Interim WWE Women's Champion Chelsea Green received medical clearance to return to the ring during Friday's episode of WWE SmackDown. General manager Nick Aldis confirmed that Green can compete provided she wears a protective face mask to cover her healing orbital bone. During the broadcast, Aldis announced that Nia Jax will challenge Green for the title in Mexico City next Friday. Earlier in the show, Jax defeated Tiffany Stratton with the Annihilator maneuver. Following the bout, Jax confronted Green at ringside, physically targeting the champion's mask before the two engaged in a tense standoff to close the segment.

"Chelsea Green has been on the clock, having been given 30 days to get medically cleared to wrestle as a condition of keeping the WWE women’s championship she won at SummerSlam. She broke her orbital bone and refused to surrender the title, saying she would get a face mask — and she would bedazzle, of course — and fight through it if she had to. As it turns out, that’s exactly what is going to happen. On this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown from Cleveland, a WWE doctor revealed in the ring that she’s been cleared with one condition — she has to wear the face mask at all time. With that being the only qualifier, Green excitedly welcomed all comers. The first hit the scene immediately, with Nia Jax making clear she believed she should be next in line for a championship match. She was booked in one for next week’s show in Mexico City, and then ahead and put the boots to Green’s good friend, Tiffany Stratton. Then she took Chelsea’s mask off her face, just to really bring across that she’s bigger, and badder, and a real threat to win the title when WWE heads south next week. Ready for this?
"Interim WWE Women's Champion Chelsea Green was cleared for action, under one condition, and her next challenger was announced on "WWE SmackDown."
