Chelsea signs Valentin Barco from Strasbourg on seven-year deal

Chelsea has completed the signing of Argentina international Valentin Barco from sister club Strasbourg on a seven-year contract. The 22-year-old, who has experience in central midfield and left-back, played seven matches for Brighton last season, including six in the Premier League. Barco was part of the Argentina squad that reached the World Cup final and made his fifth appearance during the tournament's group stage. After initially joining Strasbourg on loan in 2024, he secured a permanent transfer and contributed to their qualification for the Conference League. Barco is expected to integrate with his new Chelsea teammates during their upcoming tour of Australia and Hong Kong.
