Chelsea wins World Sevens title over Manchester United in London

Chelsea secured the World Sevens trophy with a 6-5 victory against Manchester United at Brentford's Gtech Stadium on Saturday. The tournament, co-founded by Jennifer Mackesy and Justin Fishkin, aims to augment existing women's football dynamics, despite mixed reactions from fans regarding its format and approach. Everton's quirky promotional tactics, including a coffin-like suitcase for a player, sparked controversy over the tournament's seriousness. While some embraced the event for fostering fun and camaraderie, critics argued it undermines the professionalism of women's football. Chelsea's win adds a financial boost of half a million U.S. dollars in prize money.
