Cheshire League team represents England in UEFA Regions Cup intermediate round

Andy McCann, an assistant headteacher at Great Sankey High School, will manage the Cheshire League representative team during the upcoming UEFA Regions Cup. The squad earned its place in the amateur tournament by winning the FA Inter-League Cup against the Herts Senior County League on May 9. The team, composed of amateur players with day jobs including electricians and surveyors, will wear official England kits while competing in Sweden. They face three matches in the intermediate round against Jarvenpaa United, Algarve, and Gothenburg. The winners of the eight groups in this stage of the competition advance to next summer’s finals. McCann and his squad travel to Sweden on September 6 to begin their tournament campaign.
