Chicago Bears add defensive back Clark Phillips III to the roster

The Chicago Bears acquired defensive back Clark Phillips III from the Atlanta Falcons on cutdown day. The transaction involved the Bears parting with defensive tackle Gervon Dexter. Phillips, who played collegiately at the University of Utah, arrives in Chicago to compete for a spot in the secondary. He follows Jaylon Johnson as a former Utes defensive back now playing for the Bears. While the two did not overlap as teammates at Utah, Phillips noted that he studied game film of Johnson to understand the defensive schemes utilized by the program. The Bears are now working to integrate Phillips into their secondary as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
