Chicago Bears evaluate roster additions following 2026 preseason cutdown

The Chicago Bears established an initial 53-man roster on Sunday after the league-wide deadline to trim squads to 53 players. Following the release of more than 1,000 players across the NFL, the Bears remain active in scouting potential acquisitions. Teams have until Monday at 12 p.m. CT to submit claims on players placed on waivers, while released veterans can be signed at any time. Potential targets for Chicago include linebacker Tyrel Dodson, cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting, and defensive tackle Colby Wooden. Other players currently available to the organization include cornerback Reddy Steward, running back Jaydon Blue, and defensive end Sam Williams. General manager Ryan Poles previously successfully added depth through the waiver wire, including moves for D'Marco Jackson and Jaylon Jones.
