Chicago Bears honor Mike Ditka ahead of game against New England Patriots

The Chicago Bears are set to honor NFL legend Mike Ditka during their home game against the New England Patriots on October 22, 2026. This marks the team's first home game since Ditka's passing on October 9. Planned tributes include a moment of silence, a commemorative video, and giveaways such as fake mustaches and knit headbands inspired by Ditka's iconic sweater vest. The Bears will also feature a stencil of Ditka on the Soldier Field grass and wear a patch of his number 89 for the remainder of the season. The matchup against the Patriots is particularly symbolic, as Ditka coached the Bears to their 1985 Super Bowl victory over New England.
