Chicago Bears open 2026 NFL season against Carolina Panthers on Sunday

The Chicago Bears travel to the east coast to face the Carolina Panthers this Sunday for their 2026 season opener. While Chicago enters the matchup with projections for a high-performing offense, concerns persist regarding the team's defensive progress. Receiver Rome Odunze remains limited in practice as the roster prepares for the initial game of the schedule. Across the league, other teams face roster challenges, including the Patriots with receiver A.J. Brown expected to miss at least four weeks due to an ankle injury. The Packers continue to await the conclusion of the NFL's disciplinary process regarding running back Josh Jacobs, who remains on the Commissioner’s Exempt list. Chicago players and staff are looking to establish early momentum as they begin their campaign against the Panthers in a high-stakes divisional start.
