Chicago Bears prepare to form 16-player practice squad on Monday

The Chicago Bears are moving to finalize a 16-player practice squad following the conclusion of the team's initial 53-man roster formation. General manager Ryan Poles begins the process at 11 a.m. CT on Monday, August 31, after the league-wide waiver wire period closes. The squad can include up to six veteran players who have accrued more than two NFL seasons, while the remaining spots are designated for players with limited experience or those participating in the International Pathway Program. Players signed to the practice squad are free to join other teams provided they are added directly to an active 53-man roster. Teams may also elevate two players from the practice squad to the active roster on game days during the season, provided the individuals do not exceed a limit of two elevations per season.
