Chicago Cubs pitcher Ben Brown is out for the remainder of the season

Chicago Cubs pitcher Ben Brown will miss the remainder of the season due to a recurring neck injury. Brown originally landed on the injured list in June and experienced a setback following a bridge camp appearance in late August. Before the injury, he recorded a 1.85 ERA across 20 appearances and eight starts, covering 68 innings. The team currently holds a 4 1/2 game lead in the wild card race but has lost 12 of its last 19 games. Chicago remains nine games behind the Milwaukee Brewers in the division standings as the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres challenge their playoff position. The bullpen currently maintains a 4.02 ERA and has struggled during the second half of the season.
