Chicago Cubs release left-handed pitcher Hoby Milner

The Chicago Cubs released left-handed pitcher Hoby Milner on Monday before beginning a series against the Milwaukee Brewers at Wrigley Field. Milner had been on the injured list since June 27 following a bout of appendicitis and had not appeared in a major league game since June 25. He recently completed a rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa, where he made 10 appearances and recorded a 2.53 ERA. Following the completion of that assignment, the Cubs designated Milner for assignment and he cleared waivers. Milner holds a 3.53 ERA across his major league appearances this season. He is now a free agent eligible to sign with any club.
