Chicago Fire sign winger Johan Gómez from Eintracht Braunschweig

Chicago Fire FC acquired winger Johan Gómez from Eintracht Braunschweig on Wednesday. The 25-year-old former United States youth international signed a contract running through the 2028-29 season with an option for 2029-30. Gómez joins the club following his time in Germany’s 2. Bundesliga and previous professional stints with North Texas SC and FC Porto's reserves. Chicago director of football and head coach Gregg Berhalter noted the player's versatility and experience across more than 100 professional appearances in Germany. Gómez is the latest addition to a roster that recently signed Robert Lewandowski, Anzor Mekvabishvili, and Andreas Hanche-Olsen. The Fire currently sit third in the Eastern Conference standings with 37 points as the team aims for a second consecutive appearance in the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.
