Chicago releases veteran wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud

The Chicago Bears released veteran wide receiver and return specialist Ray-Ray McCloud over the weekend following an injury settlement. McCloud had initially been placed on injured reserve while the team narrowed its roster to 53 players ahead of the new season. A 2018 NFL draft selection by the Buffalo Bills, McCloud has recorded 159 receptions for 1,523 yards and two touchdowns across his career. His primary professional contributions have occurred on special teams, where he logged 1,326 yards on punt returns and 2,890 yards on kickoff returns. In addition to his time in Chicago and Buffalo, McCloud has played for the Carolina Panthers, Pittsburgh Steelers, and San Francisco 49ers. He is now a free agent looking for his next opportunity in the league.
