The Kansas City Chiefs reduced their roster to 53 players on August 30 ahead of the NFL deadline. Among the moves, the team released veteran quarterback Chris Oladokun with an injury designation following his stint in concussion protocol. The organization currently retains Patrick Mahomes, Justin Fields, and Garrett Nussmeier at the position. While Mahomes remains the starter, the team has yet to formally name a backup between Fields and the rookie Nussmeier. Head coach Andy Reid expressed satisfaction with the progress of Fields during the preseason.
