Chiefs rookie tackle Kahlil Benson impresses in training camp

Summary

Kahlil Benson, an undrafted free agent, is making a strong case for a starting role with the Kansas City Chiefs during training camp in August 2026. Initially, the team had Josh Simmons and Jaylon Moore expected to start at tackle, leading to Wanya Morris's trade request earlier this summer. Benson's performance has garnered attention as he takes first-team reps and stands out in practice against defensive pressure. Offensive players have noted his great impact, while head coach Andy Reid acknowledges his development amid minor setbacks. The focus now shifts to whether Benson can secure a starting position for the opening game of the season.
