Christian Brothers and MUS announce shift to independent football schedule

Christian Brothers and Memphis University School will play an independent TSSAA football schedule for the 2027 and 2028 seasons. This decision renders both teams ineligible for the TSSAA playoffs during that period. The schools plan to develop a 10-game schedule along with a bowl game for the 2027-2029 academic years. Christian Brothers' President David Poos emphasized the importance of building continuity for student-athletes. This follows similar moves by Christ Presbyterian Academy and Father Ryan schools. Both teams had planned to remain in Division II-AAA under TSSAA's recent classification changes.
