Cincinnati basketball adds Bowling Green guard Javontae Campbell

The University of Cincinnati men's basketball team has secured a commitment from transfer guard Javontae Campbell for the upcoming season. Campbell arrives from Bowling Green, where he spent two seasons following a two-year junior college career at Northern Oklahoma. During the 2025-26 season, he earned recognition as the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Year while leading all of Division I in steals. The 6-foot-2 guard averaged 18.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game in his most recent campaign. He joins the Bearcats under the NCAA's five-year eligibility ruling, which provides athletes with five seasons of eligibility within a five-year window. Campbell holds a track record of consistent production, having started 63 of 64 games for the Falcons.
