Cincinnati Reds sign Orlando Arcia to a minor league contract

The Cincinnati Reds signed veteran shortstop Orlando Arcia to a minor league deal on September 2, 2026. The 32-year-old infielder joins the organization following a brief three-game stint with the Diablos Rojos del Mexico. Earlier this season, Arcia played 19 games for the Minnesota Twins, where he recorded 13 hits and one home run in 50 plate appearances. The move provides the Reds with additional depth at shortstop while regular starter Elly De La Cruz recovers from a minor quad injury. Arcia carries a career.240 batting average and a.661 OPS over 1,032 Major League games. He previously earned an All-Star selection in 2023 while playing for the Atlanta Braves.
