A pair of massive title fights will headline the annual event in November

Josh Hokit gets his wish, fights Ciryl Gane for the heavyweight title at UFC 334

Ciryl Gane | Nathan Posner, Anadolu via Getty Images Ciryl Gane seeks heavyweight immortality when he takes on the undefeated Josh Hokit in the UFC 334 main event, while the legendary Amanda Nunes officially returns to challenge Kayla Harrison. During Saturday’s UFC 331 broadcast, the top two fights for the Nov. 14 event at Madison Square Garden in New York were officially announced. Gane vs. Hokit headlines with Gane (14-2, 1 NC), the reigning interim heavyweight champion, looking to finally attain undisputed status as he takes on Hokit (10-0), one of MMA’s breakout stars. The undisputed title is up for grabs following champion Tom Aspinall vacating his belt due to ongoing eye issues resulting from injuries suffered in his no-contest against Gane this past October. In the co-main event, a previously scheduled contest between bantamweight champion Harrison (19-1) and the returning Nunes (23-5) has been re-booked. The former American Top Team teammates were first expected to fight at UFC 324 this past January, but Harrison was forced to withdraw due to undergoing neck surgery. Gane is a two-time interim champion, having earned the title a second time with a knockout over Alex Pereira at UFC White House. According to UFC CEO Dana White, Gane would not be elevated from interim to undisputed status without fighting again. Gane has twice fought for the undisputed belt, falling short against Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou. The brash Hokit has rapidly risen in the UFC’s heavyweight division, going 4-0 since being signed off of the Contender Series in 2025. He is coming off of three wins in six months, including a one-sided knockout over Derrick Lewis at UFC White House and a Fight of the Year brawl against Curtis Blaydes at UFC 327. Harrison seeks her first title defense after winning the bantamweight belt via second-round submission over Julianna Peña at UFC 316. Prior to joining the UFC, Harrison was a two-time PFL tournament champion at 155 pounds and became the first woman to win Olympic gold in judo, doing so at both the 2012 London and 2016 Rio de Janeiro games. She now finally gets the chance to face Nunes, widely considered to be the best fighter in women’s MMA history. “The Lioness” previously held UFC titles at 145 and 135 pounds, winning 14 of her past 15 fights before stepping away from competition in 2023. Her lone loss during that stretch was a shocking submission defeat at the hands of Peña, but Nunes earned her revenge in an immediate rematch at UFC 277, where she won a dominant five-round decision.
