City of York funds new 3G pitch at Burnholme Sports Centre

The City of York Council has approved funding of £100,000 towards a new 3G football pitch at Burnholme Sports Centre. This pitch will replace an existing seven-a-side facility and include upgraded changing facilities. The total cost of the project is projected at £1.05 million, supported mainly by a £709,000 grant from the Football Foundation and £250,000 from GLL, which operates the centre. The project aims to address the demand for high-quality football facilities and is expected to enhance opportunities for players of all ages, particularly in women's and girls' football. Work is expected to significantly increase usage of the facility, making it available for over 50 hours a week.
