Civil trial for White Sox stadium shooting rescheduled for January

A civil trial regarding a shooting that injured two women at a White Sox home game is now set to begin on Jan. 4. The trial was originally scheduled for last month at the Richard J. Daley Center. Attorneys for the White Sox and the plaintiffs completed requests to admit evidence during a status hearing Thursday, with expert witness depositions expected to conclude before the end of the year. The team plans to file motions for summary judgment in the consolidated lawsuits. While the plaintiffs allege the shooting occurred inside the stadium during the fourth inning of an August 2023 game, the White Sox maintain that investigations by the Chicago Police Department indicate the bullet originated from outside the ballpark. Team officials, including Jerry Reinsdorf, have denied that a firearm was inside the stadium on the date of the incident.
