Claudio Echeverri has finalized a season-long loan move to Benfica. The 20-year-old midfielder joins the Portuguese club to compete in both the Primeira Liga and the Europa League under manager Marco Silva. This move follows previous loan spells at Bayer Leverkusen and Girona. Echeverri originally signed with City in January 2024 before remaining at River Plate and eventually making his first-team debut in the 2025 FA Cup final. He subsequently scored a goal during the FIFA Club World Cup in Atlanta before injury cut his tournament short. City confirmed the agreement as the player seeks additional playing time in Lisbon for the current campaign.
