Claudio Echeverri linked with a loan return to River Plate

Claudio Echeverri, currently at Manchester City, is reportedly looking to return to River Plate after an unsatisfactory loan period. Echeverri spent the 2025-26 season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen and Girona, with his time at Leverkusen marked by limited appearances. Although he showed glimpses of talent at Girona, he primarily acted as a substitute. Echeverri is expected to report back to Manchester City for preseason, where new manager Enzo Maresca will assess his future. Echeverri's camp believes a return to Argentina could aid his development amidst speculation about a loan move back to River Plate.
