Clemson defeats Georgia Southern 22-7 at Memorial Stadium

Georgia Southern dropped a 22-7 decision to Clemson at Memorial Stadium early Sunday morning. The Georgia Southern offense struggled to maintain momentum, failing to score in the second half and converting only 4-of-17 third-down opportunities. Max Johnson was unable to reach the end zone on a final fourth-down attempt from the 3-yard line with 1:14 remaining in the game. While the offense gained 244 of its 266 total yards through the air, the unit was hampered by two consecutive turnovers on downs late in the contest. The Georgia Southern defense forced two turnovers in the first half and limited Clemson to one touchdown, though the opposition also connected on five field goals. Head coach Clay Helton noted the team’s disappointment following the road loss. Georgia Southern is scheduled to face Jacksonville State on the road next Saturday.
