Cleveland Browns keep four quarterbacks on initial 53-man roster

The Cleveland Browns announced a four-quarterback rotation as the team finalized its 53-man roster on August 30, 2026. Deshaun Watson remains the starter, while Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel, and Taylen Green also secured roster spots. The decision follows a preseason competition for the backup positions. Green, a sixth-round pick, impressed in his limited preseason action during the final game, while Gabriel showed improvement in the same contest. Although Watson is the designated starter, his performance in the final preseason appearance left questions regarding the team's depth. The franchise utilized three different starting quarterbacks during the previous season, providing the coaching staff with reason to maintain increased depth at the position.
