Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson pleads not guilty to speeding citation

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson received a speeding citation on August 26 while driving on Interstate 480 in Cleveland. An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper reported that Watson was traveling 86 mph in a 60-mph zone. Watson has pleaded not guilty to the charge in Cleveland Municipal Court. A bench trial is currently scheduled for September 23, four days before the Browns host the Carolina Panthers in their Week 3 game. Browns head coach Todd Monken previously named Watson the team's starting quarterback for the 2026 season. Cleveland is scheduled to begin the season against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
